Experiencing Interruptions?

Alameda - Here is Anywhere

When a recently retired science teacher, Patty May, witnesses something she can’t explain, she makes it her mission to solve the mystery of Rusty, a man suddenly gone missing, and Scout, the sweet dog he left behind.

When the locals get wind of Patty’s story on social media, she is inundated with a cornucopia of strange theories, unsolicited advice, and wild accusations from nosey neighbors, total strangers, and well-meaning family and friends.

After a summer of chasing vague leads and many perplexing encounters, Patty comes to understand - humans are not always what they seem and not all mysteries are meant to be solved.

Director Statement

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, going to movies and concerts was how I spent most of my time - and not much has changed. Yes, I did eventually move around (London, New Orleans, beautiful Burbank) but for now, all roads lead to my hometown, Alameda.

After spending 30 years working in nonprofit administration, I founded FunAmeda Productions where I still strive to bring community-mindfulness to my creative world.

Simply put, I want to see more truly thoughtful, engaging movies being made. I want to see stories of hope, and I want the stories to illuminate adventurous, funny, interesting women my age. In 2022, the time was finally right for me to jump in, get to work and contribute to this cause.

Because I’m fortunate to be surrounded by so many talented, artistic people, it was only natural to cast them in my first feature film, Alameda, a bittersweet love story to my hometown (with a supernatural twist!)

I write. I tell stories. I dance. I make stuff. Nothing, though, is more inspiring to me than bringing folks together and pooling from a variety of artistic resources to create something magical. I see this project as a spicy gumbo, the result of that exciting process.
