1. Eligibility
Films in competition should have a production date no older than October 2024
We welcome all genres, including documentary, animation, experimental and fiction.
For shorts competition, films should be 30 mins or less.
2. Entry Procedure and Selection
Entries will be accepted up to September 30th, 2026. The Regular Deadline is July 31st.
Selected films will be notified by October 15th and you will be asked to provide suitable film images for publication, plus technical information, and confirmation of the screening format, if not already provided.
When a film is selected, we forward a Screening Agreement to the filmmaker or rights holder. This agreement gives your commitment to screen at AfroFilmFest and has a deadline for completion and return. This provides clarity, reassurance, and protection of both filmmaker and festival.
3. Screening Copies
Technical requirements will be communicated upon selection.
Films not in the English language must be available with English subtitles.
4. Delivery of selected films
Screening copies must arrive either digitally or in hard copy in good time. This is important as all films are checked in advance of screening.
If a physical copy, the cost of inbound copies of films must be borne by the print source.
Screening copies that are not digital files will be returned to the shipper by AfroFilmFest within three weeks of the screening date. AfroFilmFest will bear responsibility for outbound shipping only.
5. Promotional Material
