Africa Day!
A day that symbolizes the determination of Africans to free themselves from foreign exploitation and dominance. Acknowledging the progress Africa have made - success and challenges. The Film highlights three (3) countries on the (Ghana, Rwanda & Kenya); the success, the cultural and economic potential that exists on the African continent. Each year, Africa Day brings a new theme, and for this year 2022 it was Nutrition.
The First Congress of Independent African States was held in Accra, Ghana in 1958. Africa day, originally celebrated April 15, marks an onward progress of the liberation movement. A day that symbolized the determination of Africans to free themselves from foreign exploitation and dominance. As more African countries gained independence; there arose a need for an organization who would articulate the needs of the people. On May 25 1963, thirty plus (30+) African countries converged in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (hosted by Emperor Haile Selassie) and thus, the Organization of African Unity (OAU) was formed.
