Director Statement

Everyone experiences misfortune, often without understanding its cause. In the East, this is known as 'Aek,' a term for unavoidable and inexplicable bad luck. Throughout history, people have tried to escape this pain—by finding substitutes to bear their 'Aek,' offering material wealth, enduring in silence, or tragically ending their lives.
This film explores human selfishness through the concept of 'Aek.' We crave love and connection, forming families and seeking relationships, yet this love is rarely pure. It becomes tainted by obsession and control, ultimately leading to destruction. The true evil in this story is not the mysterious misfortune of 'Aek' but the obsessive, fragile hearts of individuals consumed by madness. When love becomes possessive or obsessive, it stops being love.
