Adappu
Five years have passed since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, a period marked by confinement, hopelessness, and a world where human voices were silenced. In response, we've created a satirical and humorous song, 'Adappu', weaving together the concerns and memories of ordinary people from Kerala's southern tip. Written in the authentic Travancore dialect, 'Adappu' is a synonym for lockdown, with lyrics that celebrate Ananthapuri's rich linguistic heritage.
The song poses a poignant question: did the pandemic's worries resonate uniformly worldwide, or did they vary in every individual's experience? Interestingly, 'Adappu' also means 'door' in Malayalam. During the pandemic, when smartphones and social media became our gateways, numerous content creators who entered through those digital doors are now part of this project.
The song's choreography is a playful parody of Contemporary Lyrical Dance, while its visuals feature a vibrant colour palette, blending simplicity with motion graphics.
