The Fourteenth Annual Action On Film International Film Festival and Writer's Event is truly the festival of the independent filmmaker and writer. We bridge the gap between the industry and the indie filmmaker with guests like Debra Kara Unger, Nick Mancuso, Harry Lennix, Eric Bana, Mark Ruffalo, John Savage and many others in attendance every season. We also feature top distributors and buyers from companies like Bruber Media, Multivisionnaire Distribution, Showcase Entertainment, Gorilla Pictures, Movie Heroes, Storyoptic Films, The China Film Group and more.
With a fourteen year history of recognizing filmmakers at every level in some of the most gorgeous cinemas in the world, we create screenings and opportunities that no other festival offers.
Action On Film means; 'The Action a director takes to make his or her vision come true and then the re-action to that effort by the audiences who watch it. Sure, we love action films but we get just as inspired by Comedy, Drama, Animation, Documentary and Experimental Projects.
Filmmakers like Daniel Kozakiewicz, Karlos Alastruey, Tracey Birdsall , Stan Harrington, and many others credit us with getting their starts. We have featured the work of hundreds of filmmakers and producers via our television programs; The AOF Channel from NBC and the currently running Del Weston's Action On Film which airs on Time Warner Cable, Champion Broadband, Peg Media and of course online.
Our 10 day event caps off with a sold out Writers' Award Show and Dinner and 2 star studded Black Tie Dinners and Award Shows which have been selling out for thirteen years straight. Got a great project? Come be a part of the show!

With great sponsors like Soyjoy, Monster Energy, Write Brothers, Sony, Avid, The Stella Adler Academy, the Brendan Theaters, Quickfilm Budget, Pond 5 and many others, the AOF gave out over $250,000 in cash and prizes in 2017 alone.
In addition, sponsors like Hollywood Rentals and others give out full equipment package rentals for up to two weeks to make a filmmaker's film production dreams come true.
We also feature many of our filmmakers on the Del Weston's Action On Film weekly television program which airs in the Los Angeles Market and across the country. This exposure alone is worth thousands of dollars in promotion and advertising for your projects.

Been to film festivals all over the country, and this one really takes the number 1 spot in my heart, the Festival Director himself checked in on myself and countless others, was treated like I was appreciated and cannot wait to go back to a place that truly champions those who come.

Action on Film was my very first film festival ever. Coming in, I was so nervous about everything. However, when I got there, it was absolutely incredible! The people were so nice; I felt at home every minute. The venue was easy to navigate; with it being in one place, it was so easy to find where I needed to be, from screenings to seminars. And speaking of seminars, I learned so much about filmmaking from them and the festival. Del and Theresa are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet; they and the AOF family are truly my heroes in the filmmaking industry. This festival ignited my passion for filmmaking and screenwriting. I can't wait for next year!!!

You were fantastic and you kicked butt and made a great impression on everyone you met. By the by, winning that Spoken Word Live event with Eli was AMAZING. Thanks. D.

Last year I decided to adapt a short story of mine. It was accepted!
I was so excited! I was nervous to go since it was my first film festival.
I can only say it was like being on a roller coaster. It was full of information, chances to network, a look behind the scenes of what it takes to make it all come together. And just like the roller coaster an emotional high that lasted for weeks. I am preparing projects to enter again and maybe even a short film. Love it! Can't wait to see all the people I met last year and the new faces in 2018.

    Response from festival:

You have a home with AOF and we're so glad to have you here! Great work and we can't wait to see you again! D.

My short films and screenplays have been selected by AOF in several festival years when I was starting out. I am submitting my most ambitious work to date for the 2018 festival. At each AOF festival, I have been personally acknowledged by the Del, Theresa, and AOF staff. For those of us with only a few credits, we know how rare and rewarding that is--to be respected. I have attended various AOF workshops, and I have found each one to be valuable and useful. I have met other movie makers with whom I have remained in contact and rely upon for guidance and suggestions. AOF is about creating community. AOF is dedicated to helping each movie maker grow and prosper. I consider AOF to be my movie "family" and "home."

I really hate to write this because I have had successful experiences with AOFfest in the past but ... I was extremely disappointed that not one but TWO of my short films were accepted this past year (2017) but somehow NEITHER WAS SCREENED ... in spite of me making several phone calls, messages, even showing up to the hospitality suite in person. Fortunately I live in the Las Vegas area but it would have been devastating to any out-of-town filmmaker paying for a trip out. Del eventually called (after the festival) to apologize. He refunded my entry fees. He also said he would mail me the award certificates I had won (one for screenwriting, the other for one of the short films THAT NEVER SCREENED). Here it it three months later and still waiting for those certificates to come in the mail.

    Response from festival:

Hey Lisa, yes you are correct, we have had a number of great seasons together and I completely understand your disappointment as it was caused by my attempt to please other filmmakers as this was the biggest show in our history. Thousands of filmmakers and writers were supported, screened, nominated, represented, sold and awarded. Of course I called to apologize and of course I refunded your entry fees. I can not take payment for what I didn't provide. Yes, you did win two awards and as promised those will be sent to you just as the final thirty awards and prizes are being sent. As you know, all writer awards receive up to $250.00-$500.00 in software each season and writers who are not present to receive their awards are sent the awards with the software or certificates for the software. A number of our award sponsors provide their awards up to four months after the show. We do not fault them for that, nor do we complain because we understand that there is a process to everything. Once you receive your awards, as you have already received contact, multiple apologies, refunds etc., I ask you to please never enter Action On Film or any other festival I run. You have been treated very well over the years and your work has always been supported, screened and in contention for awards. If the ball is dropped once -as we grow to incorporate even more great filmmakers and writers - and this is your critique then it is obvious that we are not the show for you. Best regards and continued success. Del Weston, creator, producer The Action On Film International Film Festivals and Writers Celebrations.
