>Be: absurd. Again. V5

>>We believe independent film-making is the future of film-making. We need you to prove it.

The 5th ABSURDAH international film festival will be happening on one evening at the Criterion Music Hall Theatre in Blue Town — the new home of art house films. We are open to all international films that don't fit in, don't want to fit in, or just can't be categorised to fit in to the norms expected of so many conservative festivals (you know who you are). Only the Finalists are shown in the evening.

Every selected submission will be eligible for “the adsurdah awards” presented in the evening of the festival.

The film-makers and cinephiles will experience an eventful evening on the 9th August 2025.

This year we are looking for fictions, animation, video arts, short films and very short films. Finalists and winners will be shown in the evening all will be eligible for “the adsurdah awards”.

>Be: absurdah.

Every selected submission will be eligible for “the adsurdah awards” which will be presented in the evening of the festival. There will be an international jury made up of international artists, designers and film-makers dedicated to each particular absurdist award.

Films can have been made yesterday, last month or upto 20 years ago.

There will be 30 finalists.

The 12 awards are: Best in festival, Best film (10-30 minutes), Best short film (under 10 minutes), Best animation (10-30 minutes), Best very short film (1 minute), Best Poetry film, Best director, Best student absurd, Best camera, Best music/sound, Best film poster and finally, Best adsurdist.

First places will receive an ABSURDAH award, this is a limited edition physical award not some generic monstrosity from an awards manufacturer. If the recipient is not at the awards ceremony the award will be posted to the winner (if they want it) at their own cost.

It was such a treat to attend this wonderful festival, set in an amazing venue near the port of Sheerness, England.

Thank you for screening my film The Barking Mania. This was the first festival I’ve been able to attend in person to see the film with a live audience, which made it all the more special. Hearing the audience reactions and experiencing the rest of the film programme in that setting was a real joy.

A beautifully curated festival in a unique and atmospheric location—highly recommended for filmmakers and film lovers alike.

  • Great that "The Story of Keith" was chosen as a contender in the very short film category. Mijn dank.
It's smashing that there are people like this around who make the effort to organise such events. Nogmaals dank.

Thanks Richard, by the way it wasn't included just because the film had Keith in the title. All the best Keith.
