About Town
A moody and introspective story of the complexities of addiction, personal choices, and the search for meaning. Jason, a young man in a turbulent relationship, finds himself trapped in the clutches of alcoholism. Fueled by intoxication and regret, he embarks on a soul-searching journey through a vivid night in California, 1991. Misguided by this addiction and an ensuing warped reality, Jason maintains one mission: to find his girlfriend and break up with her, which he views a source of his addictions. The story begins through Jason's candid reflections on his day, laying bare his destructive habits, which he attributes to external forces, though it becomes evident that the root lies within. After meeting with his girlfriend, Alice, he gets distracted and doesn't tell her what he wants to stay. He progressively loses his way, hopping from bar after bar, becoming distracted from his mission, ultimately transcending a mere exploration of addiction; the story evolves into a poignant testament to personal triumph in the face of adversity. He ends up in his girlfriend's apartment where they argue about his situation as Jason learns of potentially his own fault in his addiction. The story concludes with a message of hope, as Jason finally comes to terms with his own addiction.
