About to Disappear

The experimental shortfilm „About to disappear“ (original german title “Im Begriff zu verschwinden”) is a melancholic and contemplative poetry film that revolves around existential and metaphysical questions. It’s a poetic-philosophical meditation with evocative and aestheticized cinematography and hermetic poetry on the search for transcendence, transience and the experience of nihilism.
Mostly consisting of dreamlike and evocative nature and sky imagery, stylistically the film takes inspiration from Slow Cinema. The aestheticized and stylized images that are in of itself kind of cinematic poems enter into a dialogue with the written, hermetic poetry. The poems are mostly written in german and two in spanish (all with english subtitles) but are not read out loud. They exist solely visually. Thematically and atmospherically, it was important that there is no human voice to be heard throughout the film, because the speechlessness in the face of these deep, existential experiences is a main theme.
