About My Man
By means of a monologue, the woman tries to comprehend why her husband was poisoned. In the course of the story it can be sensed that she played a significant part in the poisoning. Thus it was not by coincidence that she had taken her children to her mother’s place that day, cooked her husband’s beloved chili for him, and waited what would happen after he ate that chili.

An Austrian author and film maker, born in 1962 in Zagreb, Croatia. Since 1995 she has been living and working as a professional author, film maker and theater writer and director in Vienna, Austria.
In the screenwriting workshop „Diverse Geschichten“, organized by Witcraft Szenario Vienna, Ana Bilic was a member in their 1st season 2009/2010. A year bevor, 2009, she attended a crash course in acting as part of a VHS programme in Vienna.
In 2010 Ana Bilic made her first experimental short film „Home Sweet Home“ as director and scriptwriter. The film tells the story about the daily ritual of waking up, shown through still pictures, while being underlined with music which is taking a narrative role.
In 2012 she made her second short experimental film “Talk to me!” together with Danilo Wimmer, where the alienation of the main character from his surroundings is shown by means of him drumming on dishes in his kitchen home alone.
Between 2013 and 2016 Ana Bilic developed and shoot several music videos and a couple of book trailer videos.
“About My Man” was Ana Bilic´s third short film, classically narrated. The film talks about what hides behind the facade of a seemingly happy married couple.
The fourth short film with a title “Tea Party” was made in 2018. In this experimental short film Ana Bilic explores how two levels of music function in film - one made by characters and one additional music.
In the same year Ana Bilic attended the Film Editing and Montage seminar at the Munich Film Workshop. In 2019 she attended there also the Film Distribution seminar.
In 2022 she finished her first long feature “When the Woodlark Sings” (119 min.) as director and screenwriter. This film drama talks about an unusual encounter of a man and a young woman in the forest.

I wanted to show with the film how reality and our idea of reality can fall apart. And traditional marriage is a good example of that: one does not believe in the dreams and ideals that should be achieved or realized – one rather believes their own created reality by forcing one’s beliefs about happiness into becoming reality. One embellishes reality in order not to have to confront oneself with problems. And in the case of the protagonist – this is done at any price.
