Aaron Truss is an award-winning director and producer best known for ‘(K)nox: The Rob Knox Story’, ‘Cult of VHS’ and 'Pareidolia'. Truss studied at Thames Valley University and spent over a decade working in post-production, creating original content for IMAX and Sony Pictures. In 2010, Truss produced the anti-knife crime short film ‘Cold Kiss’ with director Nirpal Bhogal and starring Ray Winstone, Lexie Lambert, Joe Acres and Jamie Knox.
In 2018, Truss partnered with The Rob Knox Foundation to produce and direct his feature debut with ‘(K)nox: The Rob Knox Story’, which then sold to Woodcut International in 2021. The documentary follows the life and murder of his close friend, Rob Knox, who appeared as Marcus Belby in ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’. The documentary went on to win best documentary at several film festivals, including the London Independent Film Festival. In 2020, he joined the team at Strangelove Films to produce ‘Cult of VHS’, a documentary focusing on the age of VHS, eccentric collectors and the video nasties that became the centre of a controversial debate on censorship in the eighties and nineties. Truss is an anti-knife crime campaigner and supporter for The Rob Knox Foundation, Lives not Knives and The Midi Music Company as well as a Co-Director of the Rob Knox London Film Festival, which is held annually at the Cinema Museum in London.
Aaron's latest short film, 'Pareidolia' had it's world premiere at London's FrightFest 2023. Written by his father, Aiden Truss, the film stars Diane Franklin, Graham Cole, Carolyn Pickles, Joe Acres, Dawn Perrlman and Sandy Johnson. The film was produced by Stuart Morriss and Misty Moon.
