A Woman who climbs trees is a documentary that explores the challenges women and men face with a career in science. Dr. Lowman reveals her personal experiences and vulnerabilities demystifying the hardships she faced in a male-dominated and physically challenging career. The documentary provides young people with a sense of ‘I can’ and encourage them to pursue their passions despite the obligations and expectations of society. As the mother of two boys, Canopy Meg also hopes her stories will help boys overcome hurdles in their careers.
Moreover, this documentary was filmed by a one-woman crew walking along the hard terrains of Amazon forest and 172 feet high canopy walkways - providing an example for young women in the film industry as well.
Millions of youth from all around the world watching this documentary will see a woman who walked a hard path and left a trail of experiences that they could learn from. Hopefully, it will encourage more youth to seek a career in science or whatever they dream of doing - boldly, resiliently, and bravely.
