A Welcoming Table - The Documentary
A Welcoming Table" is a documentary created for Black History Month, celebrating collaboration over competition.
It begins with Aurea’s vision, sparked by a conversation with the owner of Fashion Afrique in Wolverhampton and developed alongside her photographer friend, Darren.
The film follows their journey of inviting inspiring community figures to share their impact, capturing behind-the-scenes moments and honoring African heritage. The project aims to dismantle stereotypes, highlight teamwork and positivity, and inspire others.

Erica was born in Portugal and has heritage from Angola. She moved to England 5 years ago and little by little entered the creative industry.
I'm not a professional. I just wanted to share the path Aurea had from the moment she had the dream of having an exhibition and achieving one.
There are vertical and horizontal shots. I tried my best to make the whole video "horizontal" as most of the recordings were unique shots and were done vertically. The lack of better recording material might have decreased the image and sound quality, But please, focus on the message. It's about no matter how hard the path ahead looks, that things can happen. That blacks from local communities can be inspiring and big. All the negative narratives can be proved to be wrong. It's also an invite for people to be the difference and join our movement for change.
