Director Biography

Makepeace Sitlhou is an award-winning independent journalist from India, specializing in human rights and socio-political issues, particularly in conflict-affected regions. With a focus on marginalized communities, her work has been featured in various international publications. Makepeace is known for her fearless reporting and has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including an Emmy. She has also been a Fulbright fellow and contributes to discussions on media and representation.

Trilce Estrada Olvera is an award-winning audiovisual journalist from Mexico City, now based in the U.S. She creates documentaries and photojournalism stories on social and environmental issues, aiming to inspire positive change. She has a master’s degree in journalism from the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University and over ten years of experience in communication and multimedia. Her recent work, A Wall Runs Through It, won a NATAS Rocky Mountain Emmy Student Production Award.

Hakob Karapetyan is an experienced journalist from Armenia with over 14 years in the field. His work spans online media and television, and he has served as the press secretary and head of the press service for the municipality of Yerevan. After studying in the United States, he is now a media expert at Yerevan Press Club. His career focuses on social justice, media, and governance, advocating for informed and accountable journalism in Armenia and beyond.

Director Statement

A Mexican, Indian and Armenian walked into a forest and found shipping containers. This isn't the set up for a comedic routine but quite literally how this film was made. Our labour of love on a rare act of resistance to building a wall.
