A VAST ALGORITHM OF HUMANITY

"I will proceed with the lawsuit."
"But there's no evidence, is there?"

Do-ah (the main character) initiates a lawsuit against her husband’s uncle who takes away a piece of land that her husband’s grandfather left them.

Do-ah decides to initiate the lawsuit, unable to stand by when the land and medicine business that her family has worked so hard to realize is stolen before her eyes.

But she has no material evidence, and she knows nothing about legal procedures or what to do in court, leading to an extremely difficult situation for her.

However in the midst of these troubles, she is reminded of the mysterious and rare treasure that can be used to solve any situation and to locate the expansive at land inside of her which she used to know.

Through that treasure she is able to meet the dharma-princes of life’s essence, and she learns that even though the lawsuit is strenuous and difficult to navigate, through it she can discover the expansive land inside of her, and so she gains the strength to continue with it.

In order to discover this expansive land inside of her, Do-ah begins the lawsuit, turning verbal evidence that cannot stand in court into legal evidence.

First, Do-ah files a criminal complaint.

To avoid the charges of breach of trust, the uncle pressures and forces other family members to state that he is the owner of the land.

Eventually, the criminal complaint that Do-ah filed is dismissed, ending the first stage with the uncle’s victory.

However, the fabricated agreement used by the uncle to secure a victory becomes the legal evidence for Do-ah to file a second lawsuit in civil court, teaching her the meaning of a blessing in disguise.

As the case proceeds through various lawsuits and procedures, each time Do-ah becomes anxious and upset, not knowing what to do, but through the mysterious and rare treasure that allows her to search for an expansive land within her mind, she is able to meet an inner teacher, the 108 dharma-princes representing the 108 innate characteristics of humanity.

The journey to find this land is not universal, but by fighting with the uncle in court, one can discover that it is more important to use one’s heart for good only, and thus grow the expansive land in our mind through transcendental law.

Actually, the means of finding this expansive land inside herself through the lawsuit is a transcendent realm that Do-ah doesn’t have the ability to know or think about.

So each time a difficult problem comes up that needs to be solved, she meets the dharma-princes from the transcendent realm, and via transcendent means that she could never have thought of herself, she solves each problem and bit by bit begins to find the expansive land within her.

In the end, Do-ah is able to secure both the real land and the expansive land of her mind through the lawsuit.

But when everything related to lawsuit is returned to its original state, she is left with only the true expansive land inside of her that she was asked to find.

Director Statement

The film A Vast Algorithm of Humanity
allows us to transcendentally solve any problem we face in the modern age.

It is a mythical story about the algorithm that already exists inside us.

Now the world is interconnected with cross communication thanks to amazing new technologies and scientific advances.

In such a world, people have to live together under one common set of values.

But that's not how things are in reality.

Because people don't know the all-encompassing, common values, they can't find a direction in life and have many difficulties.

In such an era, only the vast algorithm of humanity contained within all of us can bring stability to the world by allowing people to set the direction of their own lives.

The key point of this film is the transcendent power of humanity. This is the power (or ability) that all humans originally possess.

Therefore it is a guide through which the main character finds a transcendent power – a vast algorithm of humanity.

In this way, an external teacher leads her to meet the internal teacher, the 108 dharma-princes representing 108 characteristics of humanity.

Among these 108 dharma-princes, the Prince of Spiritual Land guides her in transforming all the rough, dry land filled with stones and thorns (difficult, troublesome problems in life) into fertile land (transforming poison arrow changes into flowers).

The Prince of Tolerating Insults lets her know that because one has no fixed self in the realm of actuality, letting go of that self allows everything in life to become me.

The Prince of Countless Manifestations contains a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand changing forms, appearing as countless manifestations of oneself

The Prince of No Attachment teaches us to let go of all attachments, such as the obsession to win a court case at all costs.

The Prince of Innumerable Accomplishments tells us that it is when we achieve an empty mind and empty background that we can build up wisdom and virtue.

In this film, the main character goes through a contentious lawsuit trying to reclaim a plot of that has been unjustly taken by her husband’s uncle. In the process, she meets these 108 dharma-princes and comes to realize the power of transcendence – the vast algorithm of humanity - while discovering the truly valuable land in her mind.

In this movie, this lawsuit is just a means of expanding the land of one's mind, and in reality, the lawsuit becomes a means of elevating oneself to the realm of God.

This myth is a transcendent power of humanity, and it is a power that human beings originally possess.

But at some point in time, people lost their transcendent power and their lives became difficult.

Therefore this film tells of humanity’s greatest mythology, and of humans’ ability to attain a divine power.

In these chaotic times, this film reminds us that the transcendent power humans originally possessed is none other than the transcendent self, while also informing us that all humans hold the same transcendent power, and that no two humans are separate.

This transcendent power of humanity is expressed in the film as 108 dharma-princes that each contain a characteristic of life’s essence, helping us to solve any problem by utilizing these 108 characteristics as role models.

Furthermore, because we are all those dharma-princes of 108 characteristics, the film lets us know the exact meaning of the 108 dharma-princes, and how to raise ourselves to the level of the divine by getting to know our transcendent self.

So each of us has a transcendent power, and we are not separate from any other, this film aims to bring peace to the world by teaching us that we don't have to covet others, fight, sue each other, and lead a difficult life.

But the main character in this film is none other than ourselves.

Now everyone in the world, like the main character in this film, can come to know the vast algorithm of humanity to achieve peace of mind.

It is intended to allow humans to live the life of God in the realm of God.
