It all started with Thunderbirds… The internet didn’t exist in my house at the age of six, so what better to do than build, dig and destroy things to be filmed using my parents tape camcorder, being inspired by Gerry Anderson’s original 1965 Thunderbird series that my dad showed me as a kid. Unfortunately the camera eventually broke and I had discovered LEGO instead as my pastime, developing my skill in design and making things.
By age twelve I had developed a passion for stop-motion animation so I could bring my LEGO creations alive, starting with a school project that eventually drove me to make a YouTube series based off a LEGO theme set in Egypt, one episode accumulating over 260 thousand views.
However it wasn’t until I attended college in Brighton that I realised I wanted to become a filmmaker, only taking ‘Create Media Production’ as a side course to my art and design courses, but it soon became apparent that I enjoyed my film course the most.
After college I went to Royal Holloway University of London, which was recommend by my college teacher, and took their Film & Television Production course. Here I was able to develop my skills on a number of collaborative student productions, take part in and run the student TV station and eventually develop a taste for film which incorporated solely miniatures and practical effects. The story continues…
