Director Biography - Nathalie Boltt

Having just directed the most action-packed and drama-heavy episode of season 5 of Riverdale (CW), Nat Boltt, a Warner Brothers Directors Program Alumna, is living up to her reputation as a director to watch. Trained by Lee T. Krieger (Shadow and Bone, Deadly Class) and Maggie Kiley (Powerpuff, Dr Death, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and backed by three decades of on-set experience, Boltt is trusted by cast as an actor’s director, while working quickly, confidently and collaboratively with production to deliver high quality film and television.

Currently completing gangster comedy A.T.A.C.K. and slated to direct her debut feature film, Holy Days, with the support of the New Zealand Film Commission in 2022, Boltt is also developing Sci Fi series, The Drift, with Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) and rescheduling Vodka and Liptsick, starring Judi Dench, for its post-pandemic shoot in Germany and Canada.
She is multi-lingual (English, Afrikaans, German) and has international experience, working in comedy and drama, from Europe to Africa, Australiasia and the USA.

Boltt first made her mark with The Silk, which won multiple awards for best short narrative. Her outrageous comedy, Vajazzle, caused a riot on opening night and led to online web-series sensation, Dropped Pie. Her music videos have gained millions of views.

Boltt is a member of the Director’s Guild of Canada:  https://www.directors.ca/directors/nathalie-boltt

Director Statement

A dark warehouse in a dodgy hood. Bad men. Mean women. Stolen money. Guns. Swear words.
That’s right, this movie has it all. Tarantino better step back because this nod to Reservoir-Dogs takes all his badassery to the next level by adding…feels.
Never before have gangster stand offs felt so damn awkward, I mean getting mortally wounded is one thing, but getting your feelings hurt? Jesus! Look away!

Well you can try, but A.T.A.C.K will grab your eyeballs and plant them right back in the sweet spot, because this comedy pops with style, surprise and feel-weird hilarity. A massive fan of Edgar Wrights’ whip-pan crash-zoom slick cinema wizardry, I wanted to incorporate some of that sophistication into my latest film. Building on the WTF funny of Vajazzle and Dropped Pie, my earlier comedic projects (see www.vimeo.com/natboltt), A.T.A.C.K is an ensemble piece performed by outstanding, familiar yet fresh international comedy stars, saying words by veteran writers Nelson Leis and yours truly.

Set to an equally original and oddball soundtrack, with beats (both musical and comical) in all the right places, A.T.A.C.K is the snarky spoof that will have you spraying popcorn from your nose, as you chuckle in cringey relief that, while the world we live in right now may seem like a dumpster fire, at least it isn’t as f*cked up as these fellas’.
