A Sunny Desperation is Emily’s first foray into narrative filmmaking, as her first three films were short documentaries highlighting Midwestern people and environments; these were screened at 15 festivals across the country. Emily likes just about everything to do with storytelling and digital design, and her background as a musician and writer have translated wonderfully to filmmaking and this film in particular. This short comedy is her and producer Michael Scanlan’s first collaboration.
