A Song for Mary

María is a lonely and independent girl who lives with her father, Saúl; a socially insecure man due to his lack of money. They both live in a small mexican town controlled by organized crime. During a regular afternoon, an extraordinary stroke of luck will set the two of them on a road trip in search of the american dream.

Director Biography - Omar Deneb Juárez

He is a mexican writer and director winner of the 2017 Mexican Academy Award (Ariel Award) as the "Best Short Film of the Year, Fiction" for his short "El Ocaso de Juan" (2016). Having won such award he got to represent México in Les "Nuits en Or", an event organized by the Académie des César in Paris, Rome and Athens. “El Ocaso de Juan” also won the Jury’s Special Mention Award as the “Best Iberoamerican Short Film of the Year” at the 2016 Guadalajara’s International Film Festival and was also Official Selection in Competition at Morelia’s International Film Festival, Guanajuato’s International Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Shortfest that same year. His next shortfilm as a director, "Una Canción para María" (2019) won the "Cabrito de Plata" Award as "Best Mexican Short Film of the Year, Fiction" at the 2019 Monterrey International Film Festival. It was also Official Selection at the 2019 Guadalajara’s International Film Festival and at Mexico City’s International Film Festival: Shorts México. He is currently working on the screenplay of his Opera Prima as a director.
