A Sip Of History
Wine in Cyprus is not just wine. It’s a reflection of the island itself. It’s the colours and smells, the people who work the land, the secrets of the craft that are passed on from generation to generation. It’s the unquenchable passion and endless love for wine making. It’s the sun that generously bestows its precious gift to the island’s land.
This emotional film was created by SEMIO Productions for the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry to promote and reposition the Cyprus, back on the map and glorify its long rich history.
Scripted by Pavlos Neocleous and Paris El-Said, aiming to expose the rough beauty surrounding the art of wine making and create a single narrative, which can describe the unique character (terroir) of the island’s wine and celebrate its value.
In this vibrant film, the makers praise the art of the local viniculture by creating inspiring and influential images to lure the audience and entertain them. The result is a film genre that skillfully balances between the abstract look and its literary narrative to describe a 6000 year story of wine making.
