A Short Breath

These images express the anxiety and effects that control of strict routines or habits can have on mental health of a young person. The change of environment from where the tension of the habit is, often within a home, to the world outside can immediately affect the change in mood. Nature acts as an escape, it reduces the feeling of losing control or the impact of something controlling your actions - like a habit or OCD. Walking into nature acts as ‘taking a breath’ and helps to leave the tension and anxiety behind. The routes walked by this individual are captured alongside her portrait beside her favourite tree in the park, revealing how the change in environment can have a domino effect of reducing the need for control, and therefore improving her mindset.
