Josh started developing his skills in visual storytelling at a young age with his dad’s VHS and point & shoot cameras. In his young adult years he traveled the world shooting stills in over 20 countries. He then directed and shot his first independent short-film in Suzhou, China, a documentary entitled 'HOPE' which won three awards in it's first festival to premiere and went on to be licensed by 88Rising. A few years later he produced another short documentary, The Man Behind The Merferds, about a street artist based in St. Louis. It screened and won awards in festivals including the 27th Annual St. Louis International Film Festival.
In 2022 he was the Director of Photography on two narrative feature films ‘A Road to a Village’ directed by Nabin Subba, starring Dayahang Rai and ‘Fulbari directed by Ram Babu Gurung starring Bipin Karki.
“If you are spending a lot of time, effort, and resources you better believe in the story you are putting on those screens. For me, I gravitate towards themes of hope, individualism, the arts, redemption, underground communities, cultures, and the world."
"Filmmaking is telling stories through a combination of many art forms; writing, music, acting, photography, directing, editing, etc. It takes a team of specialized people and a deep trust that each person is better at their specific role than you."
