Experiencing Interruptions?

short -- A Rosary and a Diamond Ring

Logline --
Follows two soldiers, Butch and Joe, on their first day home from the war in Vietnam, as they walk the city of San Francisco, before saying goodbye.

Synopsis --
Two soldiers, Butch and Joe, arrive home after two years of combat service in Vietnam. They tell stories over beers, reflecting on the horrors of war, and their innocence lost. Joe gives Butch his prize possession, his mother's rosary necklace. The two friends say goodbye and part ways.
Joe goes home. His mother, Virginia, is ecstatic but also concerned that the child she knew has been forever changed. Joe falls into a twenty-four hour deep sleep. All the terrible things he saw, and did, and the pregnant woman he left behind, pass through him in a long nightmare. When Joe wakes Virginia makes him breakfast. A healing process has began but both mother and son quietly wonder if it will ever find its end.

Director Statement

The film is dedicated to my father, and the other Vietnam veterans I've known throughout my life because of him. I wanted to make a film that gives an honest and compassionate portrayal of PTSD, while also telling a unique story of friendship.
