ARKANAR
The city of Arkanar is a fictional place where fanaticism has replaced science, ideology has replaced truth and lust has replaced love. Its roots can be found in the work of the Russian writers’ Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, who once inspired, for example, Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker (1979) and Aleksei German’s Hard to Be a God (2013). Without imposing any specific signs of space-time, the creators of the music video tried to show man’s departure from this city, its infernal nature and destruction. Video for the song Arkanar is the closing song in Arturs Skutelis’s album Lavīna – a story in which the main character tries to regain the lost memory with the help of music. Both the clip and the song use a melody written on the buttocks of the sinner in Early Netherlandish master Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights (1500).

After graduation of Riga School of Design and Fine Art, Antons had worked as a painter. After finding his real passion - motion image he started his film studies in audiovisual arts production, later moving on to film directing since 2016.
While making this music video Antons has strived to compliment the theme of the song , by fabricating metaphorical visual language, supplementing the lyrics of the song. Also the director was interested in overstepping the bounds of Hip Hop genre, to see how it could be different, but still hip hop nonetheless.
