Graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2012 with the Kubrick Prize for Fiction for his final year film. After which I went on to refine my skill and develop my voice as a writer/director. After a couple of years away from the scene I wrote a small comedy short, YOU'RE ANNOYING in 2020 to ease back into directing which was later acquired by BBC3 for their Festival of Funny programme and iPlayer platform in 2021. The acquisition fee made it possible to shoot my next two shorts A PROMISE MADE and WHENEVER YOU'RE READY in 2022.
A Promise Made was made as a response to the stereotypical portrayal of an oversubscribed theme of violence within youth culture. I wanted to tackle that theme through the lens of an universal emotion: revenge.
Instead of treading the stereotypical stories told within this theme of either a good guy falling with the wrong crowd and turning bad or a bad guy turning over a new leaf, I wanted to explore what conversation goes through a young boy's mind, and what psychological checks and balances the desire for revenge can numb and ignore, pushing the young boy to commit a violent act.
In addition, I also wanted to tell a story about a young boy that makes the right decision without having to go to jail first.
