A Portrait in Water
Inspired by Joris Ivens' "Rain," "A Portrait in Water," a short, silent film, explores the visual qualities of a river in Virginia. The surface of the river becomes a second lens for the underwater camera, reflecting and rippling, becoming a mirror and then a window. By documenting the changes in the water's clarity from the river's source to points downstream, the film lets us get to know changes in the environment from underneath the water. Award Winner, Richmond Environmental Film Festival; Current Finalist for Best Experimental at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival May 2019 (BAFTA eligible film festival)
