A Painters Soliloquy
Surviving a house fire after sharing her film "Moving Home the Short Documentary," with the Cannes Court Metrage Film Festival in 2018, "A Painters Soliloquy" interrogates the aftermath of this trauma of loss and displacement. Retracing original lost files and narratives of poems, this film used only exact narrative scripts of her never before shared poetry as narration adjoined with photograpy and filming of places once called home. This retrospective before embarking on her journey as a published Painter, brings clarity and meaning to grapple with the loss of home; and refuels a renewed desire to believe in faith, home, and respite.

Documentary film making has made room for Ginnie L. McKnight to pursue the unmuddling of the conundrum of her life. Placement in foster care on the morning of her 7th birthday and aging out of foster care without a home to live are experiences that shares her understanding of arts' intersection with public policy. Revisiting film after the devestation of fire to the 1st home she's ever purchased, and (due to foster care) the 1st home she was ever able to call her own is a true testament to her courage, faith, and lifelong commitment to Visual Artistry & Film Making.
