"A Murmur Underground" also knowledge as "Un Rumor Bajo la Tierra" focuses on emotions and human sensitivity to an event of terrible and uncontrollable beauty as it was the earthquake of September 7, 2017, severely damaged thousands of villages in Oaxaca and Chiapas, mainly in the Istmo of Tehuantepec, Mexico.

Quetzal Contla and Eric Reyes-Lamothe, technology consultant and sound designer the first, visual artist, teacher and cultural manager the second, began working together in 2014 in the scenic pieces "Cuerpo y Territorio" and "Duelo, Vacío, Melancolía" with manipulation of audiovisual elements in real time. In 2016 they present the experimental documentary "Después del Mexe" on the dismantling and transformation of the rural normal school "Luis Villareal" of El Mexe, in the Mezquital Valley. "A Murmur Underground" is their second experimental documentary.
