A mountain town at the edge of the Grand Canyon, serving as the gateway to the West and Native Culture, rests along Route 66, The Mother Road. Flanked with brew pubs, wine lofts, coffee cafes with stages and beer, are all centered around a historic downtown that settlers gave a name to after they stripped a pine tree and ran a flag up to the top on 1876 to celebrate the centennial of our nation. This is Flagstaff. Sophisticated. Friendly. Mural City. College town. At 7,000 feet above the sea, this town loves music, art, and film and embraces the independence that is known as the spirit of the West. AMFM FEST: FLAGSTAFF brings artists together with the local community and the world over to celebrate artistic achievement in creative exploration centered on film, the highest collaborative art form.
We give awards to Artists and Filmmakers and recognize music in film. We love storytellers and would be remiss not to honor those who are the descendants of campfire soothsayers. We will give out awards and a few prizes. Audience Award, Film 4 Change Award, Performance Award (Acting), Best Short, Best Feature, Best Doc, Best Score, Best Music, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Jury Award, American Independent Award, Best Student Film Award, Christopher Foundation Art Award and maybe a couple more by the time the festival comes about.
