The song "A Little Love" was inspired by the timeless duets of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell which defined the golden-era of Motown. Madukwu wrote this song specifically with Sy Smith in mind, because he knew that she was the only one who could shape the type of harmony and feel that this soulful song required.

When I first heard "A Little Love", I envisioned a whimsical period-piece that celebrated the generation of good vibrations. As the director of such a dynamic, classic sounding song, it was important for me to honor Madukwu's vision, as well as to style it accurately for that era.

My approach was to create a funky, verite-style short film, rather than following the traditional, performance music video model. This song evoked a feeling of movement, freedom, traveling and friendship, so I built a story around a fun road trip in an iconic Volkswagen bus. For visual inspiration, I used the vintage Coke commercial from 1971, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" and added a "Scooby Doo" twist, with a fanciful, yet timely message, which is love.
