Nick Everhart is a writer/director who grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and now lives with his wife and son in Santa Monica.
Since I began my writing and directing career, I have worked almost exclusively on projects targeted at a specific buyer or network with the aim of appealing to as many people as possible. ALBACORE was a chance for me to simply create something for myself. It's unlike anything I've ever done before -- and that's exactly what thrilled me about making it. We shot it over 48 hours with a crew of only 5 people. I've been asked what the film is about. Now that it's finished, I've had time to reflect on this. I think the film is a response to the pandemic, to the feeling of isolation and the questions that many of us have had about where we our in our lives. And in a very personal sense, it's an exploration of my own insecurities about creative integrity and unfulfilled purpose.
