AKABOUM
Akaboum observes youth and its thresholds. Those of a declining adolescence, and those geographical, that separate a parisian suburb from imagined territories where avatars of oneself dwell in ecstasy. While kids look for a rave party between the concrete towers of a governmental utopia and Eurodisney’s plastic kingdom, the film questions urgent matters of identity, colonial heritage, exclusion and cultural hybridization.

Manon Vila is a french visual artist born in Paris in 1987.
She obtained her Bachelor at the High School of arts and design( HEAD) in Geneva and graduated with a special distinction from the jury in the Master Fine Arts of the Goldsmith College in 2017.
The implicit concern of Manon Vila’s practice relies on the idea that music has a relationship of reciprocity with the society that it comes from, both being entangled within a system of mutual influences in which one defines and characterizes the other. In contemporary music’s diverse performances (as much audible as visual),significant aesthetic, political, economical and ideological matters are at stake and this is what Manon Vila's work questions.
