A Journey of Education and Remembrance
The video is a moving and inspirational look at a topic that is challenging to teach in K-12, especially in light of a rise in anti-Semitic incidents throughout the world in recent years. The opportunity to connect students and survivors results in a powerful message for our community that the Holocaust should be used as a springboard to impart lessons of human rights, dangers of complicity, and understanding ourselves and the choices we make. The premise of the video does not lessen any other atrocity or genocide around the world but, rather, strengthens them. Due to its size, scope, and unprecedented destruction of the world as we knew it, the Holocaust holds a unique spot in history that must be taught beyond the living room, the classroom, and the walls of the school; beyond the capacity of one teacher or even one survivor by putting it directly in the hands of the next generation to share the story, share the message, and most importantly, to never forget.
