Director Biography - Alex Krasimirov

Alex Krasimirov is a 21 year old Film Director born in Sofia, Bulgaria and moved to France with his parents at the age of 4.
He becomes an actor at the age of 14 for TV shows and commercials until he makes enough money to produce his first short film at 17. He never went to film school due to financial issues so he has to learn all by himself and by watching films by great directors such as - Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, Darren Aronofsky, Nicolas Winding-Refn, Gaspar Noé, Stanley Kubrick and more.

Alex’s style of filmmaking is quite unique because with every movie he makes, he tries to capture reality as much as possible. He qualifies his characters as losers who try to open the right doors, but they always end up opening the wrong ones.

Director Statement

I wrote this film back in the summer of 2019 in Paris, France. One night, I got back together for a very brief moment with one of my ex-girlfriends and it was around midnight. The thrill I felt seeing that girl again after all these years made me realise how much I missed her. I was nineteen back that night and when I last saw her was when I was sixteen. We had a great night and it left a very good scar inside my mind that made that night unforgettable. I even wanted to get a tattoo that represented something about that night, but my mother wasn't really okay with that idea. So I came up with a different idea about that night - write a film inspired from us perhaps, but in the complete opposite way of the actual happy story. I created two completely different characters that split up because of more serious issues in both their behaviour.

I chose to film this whole thing in one long sequence shot of fourteen minutes and that was extremely challenging. We had to do it seventeen times and me as an actor and director in the film, I couldn't feel my whole body by the end of the twenty-hour day of shoot, but it was the most beautiful experience ever.

I chose to film it in one shot because I wanted to capture this moment in the most natural way possible so I can emerge the audience as much as I can in the story.

I hope you like it and include it in your festival.

Best wishes,
Alex Krasimirov
