AFTER FOREVER Season 3 - The Final Season

AFTER FOREVER, the critically, acclaimed and 6 x Emmy Award Winning Digital Drama Series, about Brian Stone and Jason Addams, a 50-ish New York City gay couple who had it all… exciting jobs, a beautiful New York City apartment, terrific friends, and supportive families. Their love and their marriage was supposed to last forever... until Jason died of cancer.

The Third and Final Season, picks up one month after the end of Season Two, where Brian, who has been trying to navigate through the loss of his great love, is angry and frustrated over his break up with David; which is negatively affecting all aspects of his personal and professional life. And though Brian professes he wants to let go of Jason and move on, his friends question whether that's really true.

At the urging of his friends, and "work wife" Brenda, Brian enters into therapy. Through the course of his therapy, the continued use of flashbacks, and "conjurings" of Jason, Brian begins taking Jason off of the pedestal he has placed him on since the cancer dia
|”}[gnosis, and forced to confront the fact that neither Jason nor the relationship was perfect.

When Brian is tempted to make an unhealthy sexual choice, we learn that Jason had an affair with, a young writer/client he was mentoring (Stefan, from Season Two) And though the affair had ended, Brian admits that upon learning of the cancer diagnosis the same day he was going to confront Jason, he decided that "cancer trumps everything else," and chose to stuff it.

By the end of the season, Brian, reaches the point that he is fully ready to heal and move on - not to forget Jason, but to stop holding onto him.

A driving force behind creating the final season of After Forever, was to continue to highlight honest portrayals of people mourning the loss of a loved one with humor and pathos. It was also to honor the legacy of the late Michael Slade. In a tragic, life imitates art scenario, writing this last season became the final collaboration between the award winning co-writers Michael Slade and Kevin Spirtas, when Slade sadly succumbed to cancer in December 2020. After Michael’s death, and the Covid Pandemic, the scripts for the final season’s 8 episodes remained un-produced… until now.
