Stepa loses his suitcase with needed for studies copies of old manuscripts in a remote village, where his mother brought him to show his father’s grave. Endless wandering through the cemetery are followed by a pointless argument with his mother: she will help him to return to an archive in Madrid, only if he agrees to politicize science.
