A Christmas Carol
During lockdown in 2020, we went on a marathon to make this in our evenings in the month of December in the run up to Christmas.
We have a history of performing A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. We had used a script very similar to this one at Samuel Johnson's Birthplace in a very enclosed space, playing many characters each. It was very well received and repeated on two following Christmases.
During the Covid lockdown of 2020 we set ourselves the target of trying to produce a video version which you can see here.
It was a crazy but great time, a real race with some evenings finishing at 4am to get it all finished by Christmas.
To get the job done, Stuart converted his bedroom into a green screen room and we had zero budget, a few found costumes and a camera. We decided to shoot it almost entirely to green screen and then use found footage on Youtube as backdrops. All original footage owners have been notified and given blessing for non-commercial usage in our unusual and creative take of this classic tale.
