Director Statement

Nothing about this story is fresh. The story of the best man who is in love with the bride and aims to ruin his best friend’s wedding day has been done before. We’ve seen it played out in the occasional TV show, a Rom-Com here and there, or in the Regency romance novels relegated mostly to the aisles of grocery store shelves. Love vs. obsession.

I see myself in both Kyle and Josh: The angel and devil who sit on my shoulders. Kyle, who has lived for years with mental illness but has found ways to heal himself. Josh, who has lived for years with a secret hatred of Kyle for having stolen the woman he feels entitled to. Kyle, the angel who champions life and survival. Josh, the devil who seeks to destroy all of that for the sake of feeling validated by way of his own misery. I believe we all walk around with some forms of these characters on our shoulders in our daily lives. We communicate with them at different times, for different reasons. How fortunate I am to now see them both come to life on screen, speaking to each other, and getting to know them a little better.
