A Beginner's Guide to Quarantine From A Born-Again Optimist
Life in quarantine has taken a mental toll on every one of us. I made this film “A Beginner’s Guide To Quarantine from a Born-Again Optimist” during quarantine where I directed, DP’ed, and starred in it, with hopes it would bring spirits up, reconnect us, add some humor and levity into how downtrodden the everyday feels, and act as reminder that this is a shared experience the world is having together, apart. You are not alone.

Kristyna Archer is an award-winning director with a passion for creating thought-provoking and visually compelling work through a lens of stylized realism. She grew up near 8 mile road in Detroit, spent a decade in Chicago, and currently splits time between LA & NYC. Her work explores the surreal and the absurd, with a proclivity towards irony, infused in her vibrant stylized worlds. Concepting from her keen eye for design and quirky point of view with access to an abundantly curious imagination, there's never a dull moment on set.
Some projects of note include 72 & Sunny’s MommyBahama.com, a cultural commentary on the miseducation that maternity leave is a vacation, which won a Webby and an ADC award. Most recently she wrote and directed a short film called A Brief History of the Eyeroll, where she weaves her love animation into her playful storytelling point of view.
Optimism is a choice. It takes practice to find the seeds of hope in dark times. I hope this acts as a reminder and brings levity into the everyday life of quarantine.
