Mother
Rebellions, which are mostly seen negatively by others, are started by individuals with their own stories to tell rooted in shared histories. “Aai” is a short film bringing to light such personal turmoil that the youth of the state had to go through to realise their dream of liberating their land and when the youth of the land suffer & their families also feel the heat of the fire burning within them. “Aai” narrates the story how two childhood friends had to navigate their way through a militant organisation and their own beliefs, leaving their families behind. And, also the dilemma of a mother, whose utmost sacrifice goes unnoticed for the debated cause. The story of Aai is a story of many Assamese households, which is now although on a smaller scale, continuing. Individuals with similar goals might have different approaches. But what does one do when those differences can put forth questions of life and death of one's own? Whether they are right or wrong, the narration does not scrutinise that. It rather brings to light that blood was sacrificed by the sons of the soil, who at times had to kill their kin and kith even within the organisation, for their land; and the land continues to weep for them.
