A-frame Carrier Meets Spring Flowers
The last A-frame carrier, Im Gijong.
He started carrying loads to hermitage and shelter at Seoraksan when he was 16 years old.
From a basket of fruits to large refrigerators, the weight starts from 40kg to 100kg.
Because of the hard terrain, it’s hard to go up the mountain empty-handed.
However, Im Gijong goes up the mountain with his A-frame without complaining.
Long-tailed goral and wildflowers, who live on the edge, are his partners while going up the mountains. Despite the hard conditions of life, the beings who have spent time patiently for flowers for their families resemble the A-frame carrier.
Im Gijong does not blame the cliffs, and the flower does not blame the birds who eat the honey.
Im Gijong’s wife has a disability, and she has an intelligence of a 10-year-old.
Although there are a lot of things to take care of her, Gijong calls her wife a flower.
It’s because she always greets him with a pure heart.

he has been working at KBS (Korean Broadcasing System) since 1994,
as program director of current affairs, history and natural environment documentaries.
From giant whale's breathing hole to tiny ladybug's antennae
I was interested in the senses and networks of Earth's creatures.
By directing and producing Nature Documentaries for 15 years,
I was wondering about the equivalence of life, carbon footprints and others.
From a small flower that is lifting up the spring at the lowest grounds,
I see big mountains and get to look back on people's life.
