Art in Exile
The film is about the Tibetan religious art of Thangka. Thangka is essentially considered a sacred symbol of Buddhism that depicts images of Gods and Goddesses, installed in every Tibetan Buddhist home as a source of daily inspiration. However, Thangka has, in the recent past undergone a wave of change in how it is perceived by people of different sections within the same faith. Its identity means different things to different people - to some it is symbolic of the lives of the Divine, to some it is a profession, to some it is art. The film traces these different identities of the Thangka, through its own omnipotent gaze.
