An experimental filmmaker by night... by day, Esther Peres works for Universal Studios recutting theatrical feature films for cable, television and other after market distribution venues, as well editing/directing corporate and marketing pieces for the studio. She works closely with A-list Hollywood directors and believes strongly in keeping their beloved movies playable, entertaining and, to paraphrase an email she received from one director, 'I can now leave the house and still feel good.' Story telling on screen is something Esther has enjoyed since her teenage days in Yeshiva, making Super 8 movies with her brother Isaac. At Wellesley College, Esther discovered girls and re-discovered cinema. Her first piece, a mockumentary called Woman Vs. Machine was made for a class taught by Ricky Leacock at MIT, in Cambridge, MA. After that she received an MS from Boston University. As part of her graduate thesis, she staged a video art happening and created a film called, Come as Your Mother. She then worked in live distance learning in Cambridge, MA with MCET as a technical director, camera person and producer. She also worked as an engineer for Avid Technologies in Massachusetts. She's been working for Universal Studios since 1996, distinguishing herself both creatively and technologically year after year. Her palindromic short film Eleven Eleven (11:11) played in several festivals, and won Best Cinematography in a Short Film at the Boston International Film Festival. Did I mention she is a joy to collaborate with and has an extraordinary work ethic.
I'm a female Robert Rodriguez with the sensibilities of Pedro Almodovar, David Lynch and Ingmar Bergman.
