Director Statement

15-year-old Diego Dávalos Amezcua is someone with a tremendous inner light that has inspired me and many others to keep fighting for what we believe in.

He was born with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, a rare condition that severely limits his movement, especially his arms. But despite this he is pushing ahead to become a formally trained actor. The process of course involves learning to overcome all sorts of daily obstacles. But it turns out that his biggest challenge is something that can hold us all back… Fear.

In Diego’s case fear goes two ways: The fear that he will never be accepted by anyone, and the fear that other people instinctively have of those who are disabled. I believe this film is a testament to his success at conquering both.
