The documentary seeks how women is marginalized from the rituals and related performances… how she has been kept aloof from the mainstream society just because she bears a physical condition called menstruation. The documentary aims to put a question mark to the so-called norms of the society.
Evidences to prove that once women were an inevitable part of the rituals and that they were pushed aside by the chauvinistic society… Rituals and taboos modernized every now and then to fit into the whims and fancies of men, while women-related laws are kept in water-tight compartments… Women experiences that urges questioning these man-made laws…
The endless women-struggle for performing Theyyam where even watching it is forbidden for her…
The documentary is definitely a pursuit to find how menstruation is still a taboo for women, keeping her aloof inside the walls of the male dominated society, tying her up tight from breaking the norms….
