A graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts where she earned her MFA in Film Production and won a coveted directing scholarship, Jennifer is a writer, director, and producer of documentary and scripted films and teaches both documentary and scripted filmmaking at Houston Community College. Originally from the Washington, DC area, where she graduated from Sidwell Friends, Jennifer earned her BA with honors in English from Oberlin College. While at USC, she produced the documentary thesis film UNSYNCABLES AT ANY AGE, the scripted martial arts thesis FIST OF IRON CHEF, and wrote and directed her own scripted thesis film SEARCHING FOR ANGELS, which screened at the DGA’s First Look Festival.
Recent credits include directing the short film SISTERS which was selected for WIFTI’s Short-Case 2016, producing the short film NEXT EXIT, selected for the 2017 Maryland and Literally Short Film Festivals, as well as MEGGAN’S JOURNEY, selected for the 2016 Houston Latino and 2017 Boomtown Festivals. Previous credits include producing on THE PREACHER’S DAUGHTER, an independent feature which sold to Lifetime, and THE CUTTING EDGE: THE MAGIC OF MOVIE EDITING, a documentary on the art of editing.
Dedicated to developing the Houston filmmaking community, Jennifer served as the Program Coordinator for Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) organizing film workshops, screenings, and networking events.
ACID TEST is a short film based on a moment in my life as a teenager where I come home and told my parents I was on acid and then spent the rest of the evening in a hallucinogenic family drama. A dark comedy at its core, the film explores the pain, the beauty, the laughter, and the fear of growing up.
