Best Supporting Actor in a Short Film
Matt Nagin is an American actor, comedian, director and writer. As an actor Matt has had leading and supporting roles in numerous film and television projects. Matt's performances have been showcased at The Tribeca Film Festival, Mediterranean Film Festival Cannes, The Hoboken International Film Festival, The Los Angeles Cinefest, Hollyfest, The Michigan International Film Festival, The Macabre Faire Film Festival, Roma Cinema Doc, The Williamsburg Film Festival, The Russian International Film Festival, Manhattan International Film Festival, The Best Shorts Competition (Winner: Award of Recognition) and many more. Matt has further made numerous television appearances on such channels as MTV, Lifetime, Travel Channel, Investigation Discovery, SpikeTV, TruTV, National Geographic, Animal Planet, and A&E.
Matt is known for playing dark, troubled characters although he is equally adept at playing more humorous, upbeat roles. As a comedian Matt tends to challenge conventions and really push boundaries. He has appeared on The Dr. Steve Show (WPIX), Wendy Williams (Fox), on APTV, where he co-hosted The 2015 Winter Film Awards, and at The Edinburgh Comedy Festival. His one man show was given four star reviews at Edinburgh where it was deemed "brilliantly irreverent" and "a stellar success." Additionally, Matt's first film as a director/writer/actor "Inside Job" won Best Short Film at the prestigious Mediterranean Film Festival Cannes. Bill Garry of Discover Hollywood called it "a dynamic showcase" with "good direction and production values," and compared it to "Wolf of Wall Street on crack." Matt tries to give back as a comedian, and, of late, has served as a talent coordinator for the Gotham Comedy Foundation, an organization that brings comics into cancer centers and senior homes. Finally, Matt's writing has been published in such markets as Writer's Digest, The New York Post, .Mic, Points In Case, Humor Times, and Antigonish Review.
Every day during this election cycle we heard Trump say things like it's a rigged system. The media is corrupt. There is collusion between our country and foreign governments. My short film, "Inside Job," also deals with conspiracy theories and secret plots--only in reference to 9/11.
A dark comedy, with a run time of 38 minutes, the film explores an intern's first day at an office run by truthers, who believe the U.S. Government was involved with a massive coverup of 9/11. The film also explores the abuse of corporate power--and corruption--elements that have figured prominently this year on the national stage.
Make no mistake about it, our film is a comedy--with a killing spree, a dead hooker, and a crazy boss with severe anger issues. Yet beneath these madcap antics is a telling exposition of the subterranean machinations that dominate our political and corporate machines.
