Writer Biography - JANETE SCOBIE

Janete Scobie was born on the Caribbean island of Dominica. Along with her family, she migrated to the United States and grew up in New York City. Longing to experience life overseas, Janete traveled to Paris, France where she spent nearly a decade. Her travels eventually led her back to New York where opportunities in the publishing industry provided an ideal environment to nurture her writing. She worked several years at a major publisher where she acquired and edited trade paperback fiction. Eventually, she branched out on her own and became a freelance editor, providing editorial support to emerging authors, and a ghostwriter, transforming personal stories into compelling narrative. Her experience spans spectrum as an editor, ghostwriter, author, and budding screenwriter. She is also the author of the novel, The Seeds of Green Mangoes. Passionate about storytelling and a member of NYWIFT (New York Women in Film and Television), Janete writes fiction and non-fiction, TV pilots and is developing her first feature film as well as penning a new novel, always expanding the medium through which her stories are told.
