Napoli Underground

The city of Naples/Napoli is the ideal scenario to stage a movie: it has many diverse locations of historical and cultural value, and its people is considered the most lively and vibrant in Italy and possibly in Europe. Napoli Underground is an anthology movie consisting of six episodes with different stories, characters and actors. Each episode is dedicated to a different underground location and portrays a different part of the city humanity. Napoli is the place where everything is mixed, and so we have comedy, drama, conflict, knowledge, thrill, mystery all melting together in our stories. The different contemporary souls of Naples descend in the underground and react to its stimuli coming from an often ancient past. Thousand years old catacombs used by the early christians, roman/greek aqueduct tunnel mazes, mysterious underwater caves dug into the stone by the sea over the centuries, macabre ossuaries which house the bones of forgotten un-named people, hollow volcanoes where nature, history and myth merge together, are only some of the places depicted. Today's neapolitans do not seem fully aware of the legacy they represent and keep living their lives on the surface of our bright, spectacular city; meanwhile their past silently observes their meaning-less dance from the dark, static, immutable, neapolitan underground.
