Black Russian: A Man Not a Drink
In the 1930s, hundreds of African-Americans immigrated to the Soviet Union to build better lives. Mikhail Khalatsyn, a GRU military intelligence officer, has an African-American ex-pat father and a Russian mother. He comes to New York in the 1980s to recruit American spies. Mikhail is a decorated Afghan War veteran. Being half African-American and speaking English like a native puts him on the GRU's fast-track. But hiss mixed heritage raises suspicions in a powerful GRU rival: KGB thinks he is a CIA spy.
